Jo (me) and and my partner, Ben have been in West Devon for over twenty years. We travelled, we worked hard and we had fun, and at the same time we were also gathering skills – Ben in exceptional carpentry and myself in hospitality. After owning a restaurant in nearby Okehampton for five years, we took off to work on Greek olive farms for a year. When we returned in 2009, the recession had kicked in. Ben pulled all of his skills and experience together and started a business using local timber to make unique structures – Barrel Top Wagons was born in 2011. The same year, we bought a 1.3 acre piece of woodland which would eventually become Devon Dens.
We love where we live. It is the quiet, unspoilt part of Devon and we want so much to show you it’s secret delights whilst protecting the environment, both locally and in a wider sense. We spend our days off (rare!) walking on Dartmoor with Molly, our Bedlington puppy, swimming in rivers and heading to the beach. The South West is a very special part of the UK and we feel extremely lucky to have landed here
